Spock Star Trek Nimoy Caricature
This is a super-fast one of Leonard Nimoy.
I did it for the theme of 'Star Trek' on the secret sketch blog which I am in no way a part of / affiliated with. But (as the bot.bots can confirm), I am a fan of proclaiming myself a part of elite, by-invite-only groups. And so that is the story behind this quick painting.
The end.

Quick Elvis
I usually sketch my stuff in Sketchbook Pro, but thought I'd switch it up and try starting from scratch in Photoshop instead. This is just a really quick one. I did the whole thing at 25% rather than zooming in and getting all caught up in details.
I kind of like the beginning stages of this. Might take it all the way to the finish line.
Time-permitting, of course...

Billings from The Shield
Here's another caricature of one of the characters from The Shield. This is David Marciano who plays Steve Billings.

Iron Giant Project
The tremendously awesome Labyrinth Bookstore in Toronto started a contest called 'The Iron Giant Project' which basically asked for fans of the movie to submit pieces inspired by the movie. Click the link to check out all the info and to see all the other submissions (as of November 7).
For my piece, I tried to imagine 10 years down the road (after Hogarth and the Giant are reunited) and what might become of their friendship. I was inpsired by Shel Silverstein's 'The Growing Tree', and how the relationship between the boy and the tree grows and changes as the boy ages. Anyhow, this image is supposed to be of an older Hogarth on a picnic date, it starts raining, and Giant (whom the girl does not know about) comes to the rescue to cover the two.

James Roday Caricature
I was lucky enough to have been an extra on set of the tv series Psych a couple of times this summer, and have been catching up on all the seasons since witnessing, in person, the comedic brilliance of the show.
This is a caricature of James Roday who plays Shawn Spencer on the show. I'm hoping to get one of Dule Hill done as well, who plays Gus, and do a final painting (time allowing).

Tom Waits caricature
I decided to abandon that weird / ugly llama thing and do a caricature of a musician as an animal instead, for the upcoming art show. This is Tom Waits as an orangutan. Or chimpanzee. I haven't really decided how I'm going to colour him just yet, but I think the reds of an orangutan would be fun to play with.

Finally back
I just finished up a big job, am starting work on a kids book, and have some other new things on the go. But this is a sketch i'm considering painting for an upcoming music show with an 'animal' theme. Mine is sort of a mix of a bear, cat and llama. And a little Elvis and a jogger, too. I might change it so that he's in an Elvis vegas outfit, that might suit the pompadour better.

Puppy Painting
This is a painting of my family's two dogs that I did for my mom for Mother's Day this year. The bigger puppy died 2 years ago, and the smaller one is going on 14 this year and isn't doing so well, so I thought it would be nice to commemorate the happier times when they were together for my mom who adores them.
